Parents and Teachers:

Here are some ideas for how you might use Lapin Lapin  with your children and students.  Of course, the best teachers of cultural traditions are informal teachers - family and community elders - who pass down knowledge, ways of doing things, and values in a seamless and natural way.

But sometimes, traditions, especially those that have faded with time, need to be taught.  The songs and lyrics of Lapin Lapin contain important Louisiana French vocabulary - animals, clothes, food - and tell about Cajun and Creole traditions such as making gumbo, working, playing games, and having a sense of humor.

To help you make sense of the lesson ideas, you will want to use the Lapin Lapin  liner notes with the French lyrics and English translations that accompany the CD.  Also, check out our links to other Cajun and Creole education sites and resources that the Magnolia Sisters like.

Lapin Lapin  is supported through a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts Arts-in-Education program. To purchase Lapin Lapin, click here.
